Last week, the vibrant streets of Ilioupoli, Athens, became the backdrop for a pivotal two-day training event hosted by Action for the Civil Society (AFCS) as part of the Promoting Equal and Pacific Youth-led Communities (PEACE) project. This transformative activity brought together young Europeans, aged 19-24, to deepen their understanding of peace-building and community accountability, both online and offline.

The training focused on critical topics such as:

  • Fact vs. Fake: Equipping participants with tools to identify misinformation and promote truthful, responsible communication.
  • Building Online Communities of Accountability: Encouraging the creation of digital spaces that prioritize transparency, inclusion, and mutual respect.

Participants actively engaged in workshops, discussions, and hands-on exercises, leaving inspired and better prepared to contribute to peace-based communities.

The event aligns with the PEACE project’s objectives to:

  1. Empower young EU citizens to actively participate in decision-making processes.
  2. Foster meaningful dialogue between youth and public authorities.
  3. Encourage policy reforms and strengthen youth engagement in democratic societies.

This training was part of a larger initiative that includes national dialogue events, leadership workshops, and follow-up projects aimed at sustaining peace-building efforts. With an ambitious goal of reaching over 20,000 people through its communication campaign, the PEACE project continues to inspire youth participation and promote shared values across Europe.
