From Abstention to Action: Youth and Democratic Participation

Description

This project aims to address the growing disengagement of young people from democratic processes and the high abstention rates in EU elections. The project empowers youth to understand EU institutions, develop digital and critical thinking skills, and actively participate in democratic life. Through digital consultations, hackathons, and municipal council simulations, young people co-create solutions and collaborate directly with decision-makers.

  1. Encourage young people to engage at local, national, and EU levels and interact with policymakers.

  2. Promote awareness of EU history, common values, fundamental rights, and intercultural dialogue.

  3. Equip youth with competencies to use digital tools, evaluate information, detect fake news, and resist propaganda.

  4. Build trust in democratic institutions and empower young people to view voting as a core right and responsibility.

  1. A structured online dialogue where young people propose ideas, discuss key issues, and express political concerns through a digital platform.
  2. Teams of young participants transform consultation ideas into concrete solutions—campaigns, action plans, digital apps, or tools addressing youth democratic engagement.
  3. A real-life decision-making simulation where youth present their proposals to policymakers, who evaluate feasibility and potential political impact
