Youth Eco Resilience

Project number: 101193499

Description

The YouthEcoResilience (Y.E.R.) project is designed to foster intercultural dialogue among youth to address the critical challenges posed by climate migration and enhance community resilience. Climate change is progressing faster than anticipated, resulting in increased natural disasters, resource scarcity, and forced migration. These shifts affect livelihoods, heighten food insecurity, and often exacerbate tensions within and between communities. Recognizing these challenges, Y.E.R. focuses on empowering youth to actively engage in solutions through knowledge-sharing, education, and advocacy for climate justice and social integration.

Objectives

1. Enhance Understanding: Equip socio-educational facilitators with a deeper understanding of the relationship between climate change, migration, and human security.

2. Foster Knowledge Sharing: Promote the exchange of knowledge, resources, and best practices among facilitators to support the social integration of young climate refugees, particularly from Sub-Saharan Africa.

3. Empower Youth: Encourage youth to become change-makers in their communities by participating in initiatives related to awareness-raising, environmental education, and climate justice advocacy.

Results

1. Training for Facilitators: Conduct workshops and training sessions to build the capacity of socio-educational facilitators in understanding and addressing the intersections of climate change, migration, and human security.

2. Knowledge Exchange: Organize platforms and events for facilitators to share resources and best practices for integrating young climate refugees into their communities.

3. Youth Engagement Programs: Implement programs to empower youth, encouraging their active participation in campaigns, community projects, and educational initiatives focusing on climate resilience and justice.

4. Awareness Campaigns: Create and disseminate materials to raise awareness about the challenges of climate migration and promote community resilience strategies.

5. Community Integration Initiatives: Develop localized projects to integrate young climate migrants into host communities, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
